Hamburg_Lukas 的故事
Born October 3rd, 1990 — the day East and West Germany officially reunified.
My father was an East German Stasi clerk who burned all his files the night before. My mother was a West German art student who refused to marry him until he did.
I was born at 11:58 PM, still technically the last day of two separate countries. By midnight I was a citizen of one.
Every October 3rd, my parents tell me the same joke:
'You held us together when nothing else could.'
Dad died in 2019. Mom and I still meet on this day. We split a bottle of Riesling, and she says it again, looking at his photo: 'You held us together when nothing else could.'
