Houston_Buzz's Story
I was born July 20th, 1969 — the same day Apollo 11 landed on the moon.
My father was a junior engineer at NASA. He missed my birth because he was at Mission Control. He sent my mother a telegram from his desk: 'One small step for man. One giant kick for our kid.'
I grew up to be a pediatric cardiologist. I tell every kid I treat the same thing on their birthday:
'Your heartbeat is the same engine that put a man on the moon. Don't waste it.'
Dad is 92 now and still alive. Every July 20 we watch the moon landing footage together. He cries every time. I do too — quieter, on the inside.
